For the first time, I write a New Year’s message to my readers.
This New Year I am particularly reminded of the fact that there has been no Pope since Benedict XVI died on 31 December 2022. No cardinal has the courage to state the obvious and call a conclave. And in 2024, Antipope “Francis” (Jorge Bergoglio) openly committed apostasy in Singapore (“all religions are a way to arrive at God”) and wanted to dissolve the Catholic Church at the “synod” by redefining how decisions would be made in the Church and unlawfully limiting the Pope’s power (“Such an exercise of authority […] may not ignore a direction which emerges through proper discernment within a consultative process, especially if this is done by participatory bodies”).
The New Year is a good time to reflect on Christianfaith.info’s past. In the autumn of 2021, I came across an episode of Patrick Coffin’s podcast where he was in conversation with historian Dr Mazza. It was there that I first heard the idea that Bergoglio is not Pope. That idea was completely unthinkable to me before. Although I had been involved with Catholic media for a long time, but somehow the idea had never occurred to me. The word “antipope” seems to point to something from the past that cannot be happening in our lifetime. After all, there hasn’t been a counter-pope (a counter-pope with significant support) for half a millennium.
Since I listened to that podcast, the thought has never left me. In the months that followed, I began to investigate this topic further and I was finally convinced in early 2022. Two things led me to this conclusion: the apostolic blessing of Benedict XVI in his own name and Gänswein’s speech at the Gregorian University in 2016. It is clear that Benedict still thought of himself as still being Pope in some (“passive”) sense if he gave an apostolic blessing in his own name (rather than “in the name of Pope Francis”).
Benedict XVI retained his papal name, his title (“His Holiness”), his white robes, and remained in the Vatican, while “Francis” is a heretic, apostate and blasphemer. I asked myself the question: What is more likely? That this is all a coincidence, or that Benedict’s resignation is invalid? A very essential teaching of the Catholic Church is visibility. The Church is a visible institution and not just an abstract community of Christ-followers as Protestants think. Here we have seen with our own eyes that Benedict wears a white robe, lives in the Vatican, calls himself “Pope Emeritus” and “His Holiness”, and retains his papal name. And Bergoglio’s heresies, apostasy and idolatry are also spreading on the internet.
And in the last two years we have seen that this idea is finally beginning to reach the average Catholic. Ramon Guidetti’s sermon last New Year’s Eve; the analysis of the Carmelite Father Giorgio Maria Faré; the “excommunication” of the Argentine priest Fernando Maria Cornet have all made at least some impact in the Church. Lifesitenews has recently launched a special topic on the portal “Is Francis really the pope? — The debate”.
Let 2025 be the year when the Bergoglian usurpation ends and a real Pope inspires the faithful.
